It's All About Jim

It was a dark and stormy night.... around 12:04am on October 14, 1949 that Jim came into this world.  Born of James Chris Manos and Betty Jane Wallace-Manos and delivered by the grizzly Dr. Diffenderfer, Jim's first home was the St. Francis Hospital in Blue Island, Illinois.  His memories of this event are somewhat sketchy (except for that nasty slap on the butt) .... However  the origin of his name remains vividly etched into his brain.

Jim's grandfather's first name was originally Christos... shortened to Chris for his father's middle name.  When the recording secretary asked for the newborn's name, Jim's father told her "James Chris Manos, Jr." and at the same time, Jim's grandfather shouted "Dimitri Christos Manolis".  She was tired and just a little pissed and did not want to deal with the conflict.... "Christ, these people are morons"  she thought.  And as she typed the kid's name, James Christ Manos, Jr. appeared on the birth certificate (fortunately, she subconsciously inserted "Christ" instead of  "Moron")..... and he has been James Christ ever since.

Transported from the idyllic town of Palos Park, IL to the netherworld of Ely, MN at an early age, Jim was subjected to a life of trying to elude giant mosquitoes during the 2 months of summer and freezing his ass off during the 10 months of bitter, cold winters.

A handsome child, Jim was constantly pummeled by his older sibling, accused of unsubstantiated wrongdoings by all of his siblings, and eventually banished to a religious college for years of constant torture.  The college was located in Moorhead, MN... on the border of North Dakota (Satan's gift to mankind) where the winters are even worse than Northern Minnesota.  After 4 debilitating years, he escaped and wandered the continent seeking peace.
In 1976 Jim discovered the frontier of Northern California... which for the past 33 years he has called home.  During his first decade in paradise, he met and married Kristine. . . a beautiful, graceful and talented Swede ... a woman who knows how to fulfill "The Promise" (although 'knowing' and 'doing' are two different things).  Since then, Jim has settled into a suburban lifestyle in the quiet, little berg of Windsor.... where the men are good-looking, the women are strong, and all the children are above average.
